In January 2022, Prim. Prof. Dr. Matthias Biebl assumed the position as head of the Department of General, Visceral, Transplant and Thoracic Surgery at the Ordensklinikum Linz. Prof. Dr. Biebl completed his medical education at the Medical University Innsbruck and the Charité University Medicine Berlin. He obtained his surgical education at the Medical University Innsbruck, the Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg and the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. In 2009, he completed his habilitation in surgery at the Medical University Innsbruck. He then served as a senior consultant at the Medical University Innsbruck at the Department of Visceral, Transplant and Thoracic Surgery, specializing in hepatobiliary and transplant procedures. In 2014, he moved to the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, where he held a professorship in laparoscopic surgery and served as Deputy Clinic Director at the Department of Surgery at the Charité Berlin before assuming his current role.
